The American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare is an honor society of scholars and practitioners in the field of social work and social welfare established in 2009 to create a community of scholars and practitioners recognized for outstanding research, scholarship, and practice in pursuit of a “sustainable, equitable, and just future.” The society’s mission is to provide a source of valuable information to inform Congress, government agencies, and non-government entities. Early inductees have largely come from academia; however, the AASWSW is committed to including more practitioners. I was inducted into the AASWSW in 2021 and serve on the board of directors.
